Thief of Homburg
A downloadable Stealth for Windows
Step into the shadows of the 18th century.
Thief of Homburg is a historically grounded stealth-adventure set in the late Enlightenment era, based on real events surrounding the ruined castle of Homburg in Basel-Landschaft, Switzerland. You play as Anton Gerber, a daring thief attempting a risky break-in before the Vogt and his escort return from their ride.
Inspired by stealth classics such as Assassin’s Creed, you must carefully sneak past guards, observe patrol patterns, and use the environment to your advantage. Every decision matters — timing, positioning, and knowledge of the castle can mean the difference between success and capture.
Beyond its thrilling Thief Mode, the game offers a unique second perspective: an Education Mode that deliberately contrasts conventional video game abstractions by faithfully representing historical realities. The castle of Homburg has been meticulously reconstructed based on archaeological research, allowing players to explore its architecture, rooms, and surroundings as they existed around 1775.
Interact with historically accurate objects, complete quests rooted in real activities, learn how cannons were operated, uncover the political and economic dealings of the Vogt, and gain insight into everyday life during the Enlightenment period in Switzerland and Europe.
Developed in close collaboration with universities and educational institutions, Thief of Homburg aims to redefine how learning content can be integrated into games. Our goal is not only to entertain, but to inspire curiosity, support education, and encourage players to visit the real ruins of Homburg Castle.
